What is a TOG?

TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and is an industry-recognised measurement for the warmth of garments and bedding. Put simply: The lower the TOG rating, the lighter the fabric. The higher the TOG rating, the warmer the fabric.

  • Products with a 0.2 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 24-27°C.
  • Products with a 1.0 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 20-24°C.
  • Products with a 1.5 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 18-22°C.
  • Products with a 2.5 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 16-20°C.
  • Products with a 3.5 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures below 16°C.

Every baby feels hot and cold differently, ambient temperatures fluctuate, and layering impacts thermal effectiveness. It's not a one-size-fits-all approach, but understanding these factors can help.

We recommend that carers always monitor the temperature of the room & the child’s comfort. It is important to check your baby regularly to ensure that they are comfortable.
