What makes the Arms Up™ design different, and is it right for my baby?
The Swaddle Up™ Arms Up™ design lets your baby sleep in the position they naturally prefer. With hands near their face, they can self-soothe by sucking on their fingers. Traditional swaddles pin arms down, which can frustrate babies who rely on hand-sucking to settle. The Arms Up™ design is ideal for newborns from birth, and particularly helpful for babies with a strong startle reflex.
When should I choose a self-soothing?
Self-soothing is when a baby settles themselves to sleep, most commonly by sucking on their hands or gently touching their face. The Swaddle Up™ is specifically designed to keep babies' hands accessible so this natural behaviour can happen freely. When babies can self-soothe, they resettle more easily between sleep cycles, meaning less waking and more sleep for everyone.
What makes the Arms Up™ design different, and is it right for my baby?
Babies naturally want to sleep with their arms raised: it's the position they held in the womb. The Swaddle Up™ supports this Arms Up™ posture, which calms the startle reflex, allows for hand-sucking self-soothing, and promotes longer, more settled sleep. Unlike traditional swaddles that work against your baby's instincts, Swaddle Up™ works with them. Choose your TOG based on room temperature to complete the setup.
When should I choose a a TOG?
TOG tells you how warm a swaddle or sleep garment will keep your newborn: the higher the number, the warmer. For rooms above 24°C, choose 0.2 TOG. For 21–24°C, use 1.0 TOG. For cooler nights around 18–21°C, go with 2.5 TOG. Dress your newborn in a short-sleeve onesie underneath in warm weather, and a long-sleeve bodysuit in cooler months.
What size Swaddle Up™ should I buy?
For best fit result please select your Swaddle Up™ sizing according to your child's weight not their age. The Swaddle Up™ range is available in four sizes: Newborn (Suitable for 2.2-3.8kg), Small (Suitable for 3.5-6kg), Medium (Suitable for 6-8.5kg) & Large (Suitable for 8.5-11kg).
How many Swaddle Up™ swaddles do I need?
We recommend that you purchase at least two Swaddle Up™ swaddles in the appropriate size. If you own two, then one can be in the wash while your baby is wearing the other one. It might even be helpful to consider having a third on hand to use in case of emergencies.
